Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Nov 19
The 2016 Seifile, Nada's Barbera/Nebbiolo blend, is supple, pliant and also more refined than it has been in the past. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, spice and licorice are pushed forward. In 2016, the Barbera really seems to drive the flavor and fruit profile, with Nebbiolo tannins that kick in on the finish. Soft, plush tannins round out the finish. The 2016 spent 18 months in French oak, almost all of it neutral.

Notable reds include Barolo and Barbaresco from Piedmont, made from Nebbiolo, and Brunello di Montalcino from Tuscany, crafted from Sangiovese. Chianti Classico, also from Tuscany, is known for its vibrant Sangiovese-based blends, while Veneto's Amarone is a rich, full-bodied wine made from dried grapes. Top producers like Gaja, Antinori, and Marchesi di Barolo exemplify Italy's commitment to quality and tradition in winemaking.
